The talk series with women entrepreneurs provided an opportunity to listen to the stories of a few of our remarkable women entrepreneur members, celebrate their achievements and gain insights into the world of business from their unique perspectives. A talk with women entrepreneurs was special for several reasons as:
(a) It showcased the achievements and talents of women in the often male-dominated world of entrepreneurship, providing role models for other aspiring women entrepreneurs;
(b) Women entrepreneurs often face unique challenges, and their stories can inspire others by demonstrating how they overcame obstacles and achieved success.
(c) Women bring diverse perspectives and ideas to the business world, fostering innovation and a more inclusive approach to problem-solving.
(d) Such talks empower other members to pursue their entrepreneurial ambitions, offering valuable insights and guidance.
(e) Encouraging and supporting women entrepreneurs can have a positive economic impact by driving innovation and creating jobs.
During the talk, Rajeshwari Jayasankar, Director, Campus Abroad talked about her fascinating journey of setting up Campus Abroad with her husband S Jayasankar, the initial challenges and the satisfaction of setting up a successful enterprise in a foreign country. She believes that Mauritius has the potential to become an education hub with some focused policy. Archana Naik, MD, Electrum(Mauritius) Ltd. shared her interesting story of moving from the role of an employer to an owner in the company and also competing with the global companies to find their place in the market. She also outlined the challenges faced by women entrepreneurs. She believes that government policy should be directed towards attracting more foreign investments. Meenakshi Gupta shared her unique story of moving in as an entrepreneur and partner in her husband Amit Gupta’s Management Company and the efforts she had to make to be acceptable by the team members despite her strong background and knowledge in the field. She outlined how she went the extra mile and established herself as a formidable professional. She believes that looking into the typical focus of the market, there is ample scope for Training as a business model. Gauri Nayak, a professional from consultant from Deloitte, spoke about the entrepreneurial opportunities even for employees and the mind set required to succeed in such intense competitive environment. She expressed strong belief in the local women workforce and their ability to succeed.
